Separate Practice Coverage
Separate Practice Coverage
A plaintiff will name both the medical professional AND his medical practice – or corporate entity – as defendants in a suit, so the corporation needs to be covered.
For this reason, many medical providers choose to carry a separate policy for their practice entity in addition to their personal policies. Under this structure two policies respond when both the doctor and his practice are named in a suit. Each policy has separate limits and separate premiums.
If your practice consists of medical professionals who are covered under both Occurrence and Claims-made policies with the JUA, the practice must be insured under an Occurrence policy.
What People Are Saying...
SCJUA is always there to provide information for our providers and administrators. Whenever we call they are always available and willing to help.
Practice ManagerMy experience with the JUA has been very positive. I have observed a close informational sharing relationship between the JUA, their clients and defense attorneys. The JUA has been fair and reasonable in deciding which cases to bring to trial.
PhysicianThe JUA worked extremely hard on our behalf to find a professional liability insurance solution that gave us the coverage we needed at a price that we could afford. We truly felt that they had our best interests in mind throughout the process.
